This comic refers to a building on the U of A campus called Biological Sciences. It was designed by five different architects, built by three different construction companies, and is notorious for getting lost in. This comic was trying to reflect that. The fourth panel is supposed to be a copy of M.C. Eschers' stairs that go all over the place, but I couldn't quite get it. Stupid forced perspective.
